Advanced SL X.22 29″ Sram XD Carbon Boost Wheelset
Pure all mountain fun with only 655 Grams and Boost Hub.
Smashing personal records: SL X.22 Advanced 29″ Carbon Boost Wheelset from Newmen The wide rims allow a lower air pressure and make your All Mountain safer, more comfortable and more playful.
Due to the special rim profile with the completely edge-free outer contour, this rim is very light and extremely resistant to external forces. The rim flanks on display are more resistant to dents than conventional straight rim flanks and give the tyre a rounder shape and thus more cornering grip.
In conjunction with the new NEWMEN Straightpull hubs and the 28 Sapim D-light spokes, you are prepared for everything that is coming your way and your AllMountain. If you look at the contact surface of the nipple on the rim, it is easy to understand that these holes are a weak point. At this small supporting surface, all forces are pulled over spoke and nipple (maximum value approx. 300 kg). It is easy to imagine what will happen sooner or later: the rim will crack at precisely these points. Looking at the different solutions of the different rim and wheel manufacturers, however, one quickly realizes that there are many different approaches to solve this problem.
This “problem area” didn’t let us rest on our laurels either, because all existing solutions couldn’t completely convince us.
The rim profile
We had to dig deep into the box of tricks to get our rims so light and yet so stable…… but we are sure that it was worth it!
In sum, that means…. optimised rim profile without edges and corners flared rim flanges with optimized flange height and wall thickness Rim flange with above-average wall thickness Inner profile matched to our MG washer high-strength aluminium alloy with special heat treatment The optimised rim profile with no edges or corners enables us to achieve a lower wall thickness in the lateral area and, in combination with the exposed rim flanges, the shortest possible distance from the left to the right rim flange.
Toothed pulley freewheel vs. ratchet freewheel
In our pulley freewheel freewheel, all teeth are ALWAYS in use. In the case of pawl freewheels, on the other hand, it can happen that in the worst case, only one pawl is used. Tip: Turn the freewheel of a pawl hub very slowly backwards, then you will hear how one pawl snaps into place after the other…. if this happens during a hard start, then this is the knockout. for the freewheel. The NEWMEN pulleys developed by us are made of high-strength tool steel.
